Several times a year, the Pathfinder programme is offered as an open course consisting of three modules - courses in which managers and senior employees from many different companies and industries participate on the same development course. The advantage of the open courses is that they create dialogue, inspiration and powerful networks that cut across that which is related only to specific professions and industries.
Closed Pathfinder courses for companiesHowever, many companies (see the examples below) choose to use a Pathfinder programme as a closed course, in which the three modules are only attended by managers and senior employees from the same group or company. The advantage of this is that Pathfinder, together with the organisation concerned, can structure the Pathfinder course so that it specifically supports challenges faced by that company: a long-term process of change, a merger of several different company cultures, the amalgamation of the divisions, or perhaps geographical relocation of the company. I also believe that the company needs to change - in terms of economy, management or in some other way.
The purpose of close coursesIn these instances, the function of the Pathfinder programme is to lever the establishment of a new joint foundation for the company. The course will help to create shared frames of reference, a shared system of visual and linguistic concepts and make communication and dialogue more enjoyable, efficient and powerfully action-oriented. Consensus will be created in relation to goals, means and processes. And in particular, a spirit, will and energy will be created which the group will take home with it and in many cases transform into quite astonishing results for the company.
