At the beginning, the idea was to write an extended presentation brochure about the concepts we were working with at the time at BDO Scanfutura. But this ambition changed during the process of writing the book and it turned into a text with an independent usage value for the reader and simultaneously into a manageable size. The result was this small book which was initially printed in 2,000 copies and has since been reprinted three times in print runs of 1,000. A special edition for the employees at Jyske Bank - with a foreword by the managing director at the time Kaj Steenkjær - was printed in 3,000 copies. The book has been out of print since 1997, but is still in some demand. As it was already obsolete at that time as it contained references to specific companies that no longer existed (e.g. KTAS), we did not have it reprinted, but have been selling a photocopied version at a rate of approx. 150 a year since then. In this way, the book has been far more successful than we expected when we wrote it. The ideas in the book are not outdated and the fact that the Internet makes it possible to provide the text to interested readers is a natural way of ‘pensioning the book off’. The text is freely downloadable on the following conditions: Copyright to the text remains with BDO Scanfutura A/S. The text can be downloaded, printed and copied, but must not be sold to third parties. If the text is provided to others – electronically or in hard copy – the whole text, including this text setting out the conditions for use, must be included.
