About HBDI™ - Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument

Pathfinder is working with Hermann International Denmark on the completion of HBDI brain dominance profiles and the development of optimum learning spaces and innovation processes.

Since Lasse Zäll’s first meeting with the American brain scientist Ned Hermann at the beginning of the 1980s Pathfinder has used HBDI™ (Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument) on the Pathfinder Programme and selected courses. HBDI gives participants an insight into their preferred way of approaching a given task or project.

The results of HBDI™ can help each person to gain greater insight into his or her preferred through, action and communication patterns. This insight makes it possible to optimise patterns and not least understand the patterns of other people. HBDI focuses on the strength of diversity and on benefiting from diversity in pursuit of higher levels of team creativity and performance.

The Pathfinder Programme uses the HBDI™ profiles to create teams based on each participant's profile. HBDI™ constitutes a robust team platform for communication, cooperation and development. The strength of HBDI™  is not least apparent when diversity needs to come into play in a constructive way – and when people work under pressure.

HBDI™ was developed in 1976 on the basis of 15 years’ scientific research into the brain conducted by Ned Hermann and builds on practical and theoretical knowledge about the functioning of the brain. The basis of the HBDI™ test is 120 questions. A brain dominance profile is prepared on the basis of the responses to these questions – a profile that is unique to each person. HBDI™ does not measure skills, personality, temperament or intelligence and is not a psychological test. HBDI shows only how each person prefers to think and act.
